Where Bloggers Create – My Studio

Welcome to Finding Beauty — This week I am joining in with Where Bloggers Create

Remember – join us – to celebrate the Beauty around you

This may be a bit on the lengthy side — but if you bear with me till the end there will be a GIVE AWAY!! 🙂

What is it about having our very own space that is so Beautiful and enchanting?

From simply a desk and computer to an entire room of your very own!

Being a small child I recall vividly an empty refrigerator card board box becoming heaven.  Alone quiet  and peaceful.

Trying to inspire their creative side, I often worked on the dining room table when my children were young … alone time seemed very illusive… after bedtime stories, the only alone time seemed to be a bubble bath. (It really was Calgon take me away!)

This last move for me, brought up a serious question– to create a guest bedroom or a studio??

You can guess from the topic which I chose?

Having the perfect studio was not my intention. I wanted a simple space where I was surrounded with things that I love and inspire me.

Looking at the bottles, you may see a couple of my photo’s  that I posted a couple of weeks ago.

For years I focused on striving to be the perfect child, sister, daughter, student, singer, artist, wife and mother. Don’t you hate that when you are older and wiser you realize how much time you wasted beating yourself up over not being perfect?  Who cares if you aren’t perfect?  It’s living now and enjoying now.  Heck– those hic ups and mess ups are some of the best memories!

I enjoy living amidst my own work. It inspires me that everyone has a story to tell.

I loved where the editor of  Where Woman Create said…“neither our dreams nor our lives are ordinary, why should our studios be?”

I enjoy surrounding myself with things I  love or by authors or artists that will  inspire my creativity.

Beatrix Potter has always been one of my favorites — love those Bunnies  🙂

“the sun is on fire in the sky

and in it’s warmth

flowers open

in the garden

and

the butterfly

flutters

by”

Deciding to take a look from my not so typical vantage point has put me on another Serendipitous (DipityRoad) adventure. Our road of life is full of bumps and bends, twists and turns, and even some forks and washouts.

As I take a moment to still myself and look — really take a quiet moment to look— I will see the beauty that has always been there. Capturing that with my camera has allowed me the continuation of seeing it  again and again. This is the joy that Blogging has given me — to really put focus on my blessings and abundance.

This lil guy that sits right next to my monitor reminds me daily that  “Sometimes the Spirit touches us through our weaknesses.” He is by the artist  James Christensen.

I love this space!!! 🙂 I love the way you have put it all together. And I love what you said about finally, after all this time just being okay with yourself. I feel the same way about all that wasted time. 🙁  But I’m making up for lost time now! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and leaving such kind comments. Enjoy the party!

Ah, it feels good to be a grown up and have space and time without feeling guilty about sneaking away doesn’t it? And I am so with you on putting all those hopes of perfection behind! What a lot of time wasted when we were young, trying to be just right!!

  3. What a lovely post and marvelous reminder that our creativity is nurtured when we surround ourselves with beauty and take time to pamper ourselves.  Thanks for sharing … and inspiring ME to take a look at my own surroundings with new eyes … making changes in the days and weeks ahead.
    Hugs and blessings,

  6. Hi Claudia-

What a wonderful post.  You so simply put what all of us creative types seek out in life.   I especially love what you said about the refrigerator box- being heaven.  As a child I cleared out an area in a clothes closet and claimed it as my own.  I had stuff tacked to the walls and all.
Is the first photo in your post your home?  It is like a storybook cottage.  What a fun dwelling to live in.
I am looking forward to joining in to your Friday meme.
    My best- Diane

Claudia,  For saying having the perfect studio was not your intention, you certainly look as if you have achieved it! What a perfect room for you to create, meditate, and enjoy yourself.  Thanks for inspiring me to take a look around and see what I haven’t  really seen for a while!        hugs,  Sue

  8. Hi Claudia,
I love your space..and yes, I, too, think about all the years I tried to be “perfect” and at service to everyone…oh my, I’m so glad I finally decided to  just be me and everything else can “just be”.
I joined your Finding Beauty a few minutes ago because I’ve worked so hard and for so long to design and organize my new studio. I’m just so tickled when I walk into this wonderful beautiful space.
I’d love for you to come take a stroll through it when you have a moment…
    Have a wonderful day,
    Stephanie ♥

Ok, so I hope I did this right because I like your cork bottle set!  I went to the finding beauty and  I linked to #10.Then I came back to you.  Is that correct?  If not, please let me know.  I love your space that you created.  I love the artwork by James Christensen.  I have always liked his work, also.  Where did you find that piece?  It looks like something from the Utah Art Festival.  The music to this is great!  So relaxing.  Is this the Fairies music?  What album is it from?

  14. Beverly says:

    Happy Pink Saturday, Beverly

    Hi Claudia,
thank you for the visit to your darling studio and for sharing some sage advice. I liked reading about your dilemas on “to guest room or studio it…?” Also, I appreciated the reminder of not beating ourselves up, but just simply enjoying life more–today…I needed to hear that. Also, I loved your recent fairy post. Thank you again and very lovely to meet you.
