Summer hazy days

Filed Under summer | 28 comments

When you were young, did summer seem like it went on forever?

Walk with me as I visited some of my favorite gardens this morning…

It was so quiet. The wind decided to take a break and the bugs and the birds were  just waking up.

A perfect spot to get lost in a book.

Didn’t your grandmother’s garden have hollyhocks?

After playing around with this shot a bit, I could almost picture the princess that lives here.

Summer stretches forever in a child’s eye
A delicious haze of play-filled days
and pink tinged evening skies.
Castles at the beach, croquet on the lawn,
flying kites from windy heights, birds twittering at dawn.
Picnics in the meadow, waltzers at the fair,
Sticky ice-cream fingers, and all without a care.
Let me never as an adult, let the pace of life and reason
mask the joy of the simplest pleasures
of lavender-scented season. (author unknown)

Those two chairs in the garden look like they could use our butts : ) Wouldn’t that be nice?
Your a morning person aren’t you? I actually have never really witnessed a sunrise, don’t laugh, I’m a sunset kinda girl.
That pretty blue bridge… now THAT IS CUTE! I thought I saw a shadow too : )
Happy Friday girlfriend. It sure is summer here. It’s been a great one so far. No complaints what so ever.
Cool I’m listening to “the pledge”.  Red Skeleton wrote that, or said that???

Claudia, every photo tells its own story, and I love them.  My favorite is the first, its like looking up the skies through a lace!  What beautiful photos you shared, it is so magical!

    Hi Claudia
    Your photos are gorgeous!
Summer did seem to last so long when I was a child.  It was filled with happy times. My favorite memory is visiting my grandmother for a week each August in Pennsylvania.  I loved feeding her chickens and picking blackberries from her bushes.
    Your music is beautiful today!

  10. Hello Claudia
Thanks for the trip down memory lane – yes summer was full of fun things like camping and picnics for me and did seem to go on forever.
Now that we’re older, summer tends to fly by but still enjoyed to the fullest.
    Have a great weekend.

    Claudia,
Your photographs are so beautiful.  I often remember summers when I was young when an especially hot day will pass, or a familiar garden flower is visible.  I saw a fence the other day that had climbing roses, just like the ones my mother planted along our fence.  I didn’t join your finding beauty today, my last two posts were about selling something, and I thought it would be too cheeky to link up.  Have a lovely evening. Karen

  19. Sherry says:

Happy Friday Finding Beauty Sweet Claudia…
Oh how beautiful my stroll with you was today.
I love the brick paths. Made me think of Follow
the Yellow Brick Road. I loved it, and when we
came to the first set of chairs, oh it was so nice to
sit for awhile and enjoy the beautiful fragrances
from all of the gardens around us.

I have to tell you sweetie, that little turquoise bridge
was my favorite spot of all. I love the red baskets that
were hanging there. They sure did pop with that color.

Summers were so wonderful when we were young. I
can remember many times us kids would sleep outside
on cots in the yard, like we were camping out. Those
    were safe times, fun times.

Thank you for the beautiful share today sweetie. Please
pop over and see my Finding Beauty/Pink Saturday post.
    You are gonna love it.

My doctor visit today was not good. Sadly they are
not going to release me until July 19th. I am still under lock
and key. I cannot speak for 1 week. No voice at all. My vocal
cords are to strained from all of the coughing. I sat and cried,
as I really thought I was going to be free to go outside again.
The doctor said that my lungs and my asthma are not ready for
the polluted pollen filled air right now. I am still quite wheezy.
He did promise for sure on July 19th. 10 days sure seems a long
    time away from now.

I will see you soon sweetie. Thank you for your continued
prayers. One of these days I will get to actually visit with
    you. Maybe the 19th?

    Love ya girl, Sherry
