In like a lion

Technically the calendar says its Spring… uh huh sure!

This weeks Prompt was finding signs of Spring, I honestly pulled on my coat and scarf and set out, determined to find anything green.

I found one little crocus on a corner flower bed next to a public park.  I searched the trees for some buds.

To no avail — Spring in Utah is being very illusive.

So, to get some color in my life I stopped by a local nursery.  Very few people were out, but one sweet older gentleman tipped his worn baseball cap at me and asked if he could help me find anything.

“How about SPRING?”  He laughed at me.

I asked if I could wander  into one of his green houses and take some photos of his plants.  “Well, we don’t really have much yet… but you are more than welcome. You just have to remember and come back when we really are in all our glory!”

The gloomy clouds had really not put me in a great mood; but my serendipitous find of this gentle man and his fun colorful green house gave me a much brighter spirit.  But like my favorite quote…

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Wayne Dyer

“The March wind roars
Like a lion in the sky,
And makes us shiver
As he passes by.
When winds are soft,
And the days are warm and clear,
Just like a gentle lamb,
Then spring is here.”
–  Author Unknown

I am going to be on the look out for baby lambs.

Hope you enjoy the beauty around you.

SIDE NOTE:  American Idol 2011

I am lovin– LOV-in — did I say LOVVVing this years American Idol!

These kids are all wonderful in their very own unique way.

I have watched American Idol for years. (my sister from Montana and I would watch weekly and call one another with our arm chair play by play and choose who was our weekly favorite.)

But this year when we lost Simon (I couldn’t help but love him) I really thought the days of me watching were gone.  I wasn’t the biggest fan of Paula or Kara DioGuardi but still enjoyed the show because I enjoyed the sometimes tense comments.

When Fox announced that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler would host I felt I wouldn’t be that interested or watch much .

Yes, I enjoyed JLo but I KNEW I never liked Aerosmith (Steven was lead singer for them and Boston)

BOY was I wrong!!!

Not only do I think they bring fresh and great advise, but they are very entertaining!!

What I am the most shock about is the heart Steven brings to the show– he appreciates the young talent and really wants them to succeed and he has brought tears to my eyes more than once.

Several of my friends and I have said we have found a new “love.” He is hot AND very sexy because of his kindness!

I hope you have had the privilege to watch this show– FULL of laughs, tears and talent that win or not, these kids will be on the music scene (in their different areas) for years because they are all that talented.

Watch with me??

Scrumptious spring, Claudia! I love your determination and the results speaks for itself!  :D)

  2. Claudie says:

I found a baby lamb last year. Remember my pic holding one??? It was ONE OF THOSE MOMENTS.
Spring isn’t really here either, so I’m with you on that one sista.
Just got back from Montreal. Have a ball with Manon.
    Happy Wed. girlfriend.
    Love You

Claudia, Your colors and composition of your shots in this mosaic are gorgeous!!!  What determination to find these signs of spring.
The furnace kicked on violently during the night, as the temps dropped and I pulled the covers up over me to thwart the chill.  Spring is long awaited, but slow in making its full appearance here, as well. I’m tired of Mother Nature teasing us with bits and pieces of spring weather- I want full blown warm days to stay!

    Good Morning Ms Claudia Sweetie…
So happy to see you out and smiling as always. It has been a hectic week so far. I am so glad this is Thursday. Friday is just around the corner. I love being busy, but some days you wish you could just sit down and do nothing. Just breathe. Is that possible you think? I didn’t think so either.

I love seeing you stop by and I promise to try and connect this weekend. I have a Saturday afternoon tea to attend with Ms Laura @ Decore to Adore, but maybe I can call in the evening. If you aren’t available, I will leave you a Country Wings message. I so want to talk to you and see how you are doing.

Plenty of Spring here in the valley. My gardens are so full and blooming. You would be happy with that camera of yours. The grands were actually in the pool for the first time of the season last Friday while I was gardening away. I came away sunburned, they came away tanned. Have 1 more weekend of gardening to do and then the gardens should be ready for the season. I still have the fountains to clean out. Almost there. So pretty, and I thought of you with all the color. I will have to email you some photos. Of course my camera doesn’t see the beauty that yours does, but Girl you will love the color.

Have a beautiful day sweet one. I am only a call away. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Sorry to hear you had to hunting for spring.  I guess that is why my kids live in Utah and I live in Southern California!  The flowers you did find are beautiful.  Heres to a spring day for you soon!

  7. Holly says:

Determined people change the world – I bet you made the older gentleman’s day.
    Happy Pink Saturday!

  8. Charlotte says:

Beautiful flowers. It’s a beautiful spring day here in Arizona. Thanks for visiting my blog.

  9. Happier Than A Pig in Mud says:

Great pis and it sounds like you had a very nice day trip:@)

  10. Lynn says:

Stunningly beautiful mosaic. Here in Florida, Spring, has left already, giving a rise to an early summer. I say that because everything is in bloom and its warm.  Not the sticky humid summer heat, but I had a taste of “real spring” when we were in traveling on the Gulf coast, but NORTH of us, just enough that it made me remember the, “longing” part of waiting on spring!   It will come to Utah soon.  Blessings

  11. Pat k says:

    Your spring flowers are awesome!

  12. Jori says:

Happy Pink Saturday!  I ADORE the new judges!  Steven Tyler cracks me up!

  13. Jeanne says:

Hello Claudia, I LOVE your flowers and appreciate your search.  Beautiful mosaic.  The poem is perfect for spring.  Spring is taking it’s time here in our high elevation too.  We had a freeze last night.
YES, I am watching Idol and loving everything about it this year.  The judges are awesome, I love the change.  I agree with every word you said about the new Idol singers.  I adore them and their fabulous talent.  I will be crying when any of them must go home.  However I thought it was awesome that they changed the tour to include all 11. Yes, this is a banner year for Idol.
    Warm hugs and happy PS.

  14. LaVoice says:

Glad the man at the nursery had a few pretty flowers for your enjoyment.  I love what you shared. I started watching Idol after it got the the last ones.  They are all very good, but only one can win.  It will be tough.  I was shocked at last night’s results. Since I am a country music fan, I like Scottie.  He will not be the winner, but I enjoy hearing him.

  15. char says:

Wow girlfriend, beautiful blooms and photos. Happy Pink Saturday, Char

  16. AHHH we have spring in all her glory…hope it catches up to you sooon…happy pink Saturday!

  17. Claudia I just love your blooms!  I agree with you about AI.  I was not going to watch it this year because last year sucked and I love Simon.  But, my daughter was watching one evening and I found that I  really like the new judges!  They are fantastic!

    Happy PS,

  18. Anne says:

Spring is hard to find in these western states! I am in COlorado and the wind is wicked. I love your posting and the flowers you did find are lovely. Anne

  19. Sares says:

I am more than ready for Spring. It can’t seem to make up it’s mind here what it wants to do, but flowers and trees are in bloom.
I am loving Idol too. I have watched every year but got a bit burned out the last 2 years. I think this year has a fresh new perspective and I agree the talent is phenomenal. I think a higher caliber of talent must try out because they now know they can find success by just being seen on Idol. When I think back to most of the contestants from the first few years, most of them wouldn’t have made the cut today.
Happy Pink Saturday and have a terrific weekend!

  20. Joyce M says:

I guess I should put on my list of things to do stop at a nursery.   Think Spring.   Here in the mid-west it keeps being cloudy and rains a lot.   Today however, we remembered what the sun looks like after all.   The sun came out to our surprise.    Like the quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer.   Have a wonderful week-end.   Look for Spring.

    Joyce M

  21. Boy, is that poem right!!  The March winds have roared in here and brought lots of rain.  We have lots of bulbs blooming but it is too cold, wet and windy to enjoy them!
    Happy Pink Saturday!

  22. Oh how lovely. And what a sweet trip to the nursery. My senior mom and I can’t wait to start gardening. We are all set to head for the nursery on Thursday but the 80 degrees we enjoyed on Tuesday was down to 42 degrees and rainy on Thursday. So we have postponed it for a bit. So your flowers were quite the encouragers. Thank you for a delightful Pink Saturday visit.

  23. Claudia what a beautiful mosaic and well our Spring is really trying to appear in between the little snow showers.

I really love the new judges on American Idol. The kids are always so talented.

  24. Not a single flower to be seen here yet, but there’s alot of greenery popping up out of the ground! I guess they’re going to take their time, especially since there were snowflakes flying this morning!
    Happy Pink Saturday!
p.s. I forgot to say how lovely those shots of the flowers are!

  25. Nancy says:

Stopping by to see what’s up here on Dipity Rd. It’s warm here in Austin and the bluebonnets just started to bloom. Now I’m waiting for some flowers that look like those in your pictures. xoxo Nancy

  26. wendy says:

YES YES YES…I agree with everything you said about American Idol. I am surprised at how it has all come together….the judges I too find fun, heart felt, and entertaining. The talent this year blows me away. How would anyone vote with all the various degrees of music talent and style they each have. I about died this week thinking Casey would be gone. I’ll be watching right along side you girl.

ok, enough of that. there is not the slightest hint of spring up here where I live. NOTHING. It is taking every fibre of my being to smile…but I’ll do as your favorite quote says….look at things differently, then they will LOOK different. now, I’ll bundle up and go take some pictures for my own blog post on “spring??”

  27. Rosie says:

Your mosaic is lovely. Please let the gentleman at the nursery know that his flowers were appreciated by a Malaysian so far away from his nursery. Also, you might be surprised to know that every year I look forward to American Idol as much as you do. This year is great. My favourite is Scott.

  28. Just another girl says:

Hey, Dipity girl, Haven’t heard much from you lately. . .As usual your post does
    not disappoint BEAUTIFUL !!!
BTW we are having a hard time getting spring here, another snow storm stopped
by this morning! So I’m feelin your pain.
I’m with you on idol, Steven T. is so sorta sexy in a weird kind of way! And he tries so hard to encourage instead of discourage. . .gotta appreciate that.
I don’t have a clue who will win they are a very talented bunch. . .I do have a couple favs but any of them could walk away with the title!
Have a great week. . .here’s wishin you a happy spring day!

  29. eileen says:

Claudia, your flowes are gorgeous. Wonderful mosaic. I wish spring would start showing me some more signs, it is a little slow around here. I have been watching American Idol too, and I love the new Judges. J-Lo is great and I think Steven Tyler is great.

  30. Rosie Grey says:

I love your post – very beautiful, Claudia! That mosaic is so gorgeous (I admired it in flickr) and that quote is so perfect!

  31. Hi Claudia Sweetie…
Sometime today we are going to connect with each other. We have to quit passing each other in the dark darn it.

I don’t see new pics today. Come on now, I know that you have some in that camera of yours. You never leave home without it. Get to posting my friend.

I continue to pray for you sweetie, and my heart feels your pain. I know you miss your sister sweetie, she is still there, just reach into those memories on the shelf and pull one out and enjoy each chapter of her life. I know she is watching over you. She is walking right there beside you. Just reach out, and you will feel her.

Hugs, hugs, hugs to you sweet Claudia. We will talk later. I love you so much, Sherry

  32. Terri Porter says:

Hi Claudia! I navigated here from your post this morning on Prompt Addicts and couldn’t get the link to work, so came to your blog to see your snow. Amazing! We have had record heat, so it is hard to imagine it is cold anywhere. But I just wanted to say that I totally agree with you about American Idol. I’ve been watching since the second year and there have been good and not so good years. I also thought my watching days were over when Simon left but I have grown to really enjoy the current judges, Steven Tyler included. He has the most amazing smile and is so kind and sweet to the kids. I also think this year’s talent are among the best. So I guess we are both going to continue being fans.

    See you at Prompt Addicts!

  33. Porch Days says:

What beautiful photos. How wonderful that you could enjoy the beauty of the snow even while you are longing for spring! Thanks for the mosaic tips. Nancy
