Have you ever taken a City walk? I know I hadn’t really walked my city. I thought pretty much that buildings were just buildings, until this past Saturday when I had the opportunity, along with about 50 other fellow Salt Lake City photographers and my dear dear friend Ms Joanie, to walk the streets and get up close and personal, together.
Saturday July 18th was the world wide City Walk; where over 900 cities participated just as we did. I really enjoyed our outing. It was close to 100 degrees out and I am very much a pantie-waste when it comes to the heat. But I bucked it up and thought I caught a couple of interesting shots.

Look at the details… I loved this clock. (which reminds me I have a great clock post coming up– so stay tuned.)

Check out the Buffalo and the Dental molding and fruit basket. I picture the artisan who crafted this and the pride they must have had.

Face and Lace

Then we came upon a simple carnival set up for the Big Brothers and Sisters. Isn’t this cute Chef charming? I wonder if he helps Santa in the Winter?

Typically I am not a huge Clown fan– ok call me a big ol chicken — but this fellow was a bit on the shy side and I thought he was beautiful.

Around the corner from all this was a fantastic Farmers Market (more on that to come) where I found this Flower Vender.
The roads we choose to take in our life are very Serendipitous! Oh what a happy accident I found! I am so enjoying my Dipity Road. Do you have any City walk experiences you can share? I would love to hear about them.
Meanwhile, thanks as usual to Susan at Southern Daydreamer where she is hosting our Wednesday Outdoor celebration. Also, what others are “hooked” on … at Hooked on Fridays with Julia and of course the ever INSPIRING Melissa at The Inspired Room. Check out some of the other fantastic spots around our Blog-osphere!

Wow! These are truly some amazing shots. Great details in the architecture and beautiful colors. Santa is cute, but my husband would be afraid of the clown. LOL. He says they are all malevolent.
It stems from a childhood episode where a clown scared him nearly to death at a birthday party. On the flip side, I think they’re great fun. Loved this tour.
Happy OW…
XO,
Sheila
Super array for us!!! Love all the wonderful compositions of ALL the photos. And clowns…I LOVE clowns.
My Outdoor Wednesday is flowers with a ‘passion’. Come over if you can find time. I’d love your company today.
And, hope the day treats you well!!!
city walks are among my faves – love the architecture
happy outdoor wednesday touring!
Claudia, You captured such cool architectural details in your photos! I especially like the stonework “lace.” Keep your tours coming, they are so interesting….. hugs, Sue

i truly love looking at your beautiful photos
Claudia,
Thank you for stooping at my blog, you to keep up the good work.
I did a city walk when I was younger and had a man with us that told us stories about the things we saw, I liked it.
If you come to Sweden one day we do a walk together.
Nice photo of both buildings and people.

Wow! These are fantastic pictures. I love how you got the buildings. I have been looking at how others get city pictures so I can get ideas for the next time I’m in a city.
Great shots..
I don’t think I could breathe in 100 deg heat! You are a brave gal!
Hey Claud! You got some GREAT shots!!! That was so much fun – thanks for hangin with me. We have to get together again really soon k. love ya tons.
I really need to go downtown! Mr B is there everyday and by the time he gets home he really doesn’t want to go back in the evenings… You captured some beautiful architecture and ambience of the cityscape.
Thanks for your visit and also for giving me some great ideas!

Hi Claudia! Lovely post. I was so tickled to read about Salt Lake City. I am going to be coming to Salt Lake in October. There is a conference at the Univeristy of Utah Campus, so I have been wondering what I might see. I did not even realize that you lived there. I don’t pay a lot of attention to where someone lives, just the post. I will be seeing hopefully some of the beautiful things that you see every day. Maybe the Aspens will be changing at that time. Stop by and say hi. I didn’t post an Outdoor Wednesday today, I posted a thank you for Amy’s prayers for yesterday. Please stop by and check it out. I really was pleased when I finished. Debbie has not read it yet. I will get a phone call when she does. Take care my friend. Country Hugs, Sherry
What beautiful photos! You have a lovely blog. I plan to visit often.
What a treat to find your post. Thanks so much for visiting me. You are the first, and so far only, to know the Carpenter song featured in my heading. I have always loved that song, and someday want it played at my memorial. My kids think I’m crazy…Hmm….you never know…hee hee!
I love your photos. You take amazing shots. I love the details on old buildings. And your colors are amazing too.
I really love your shots Claudia! They’re really well composed, especially the architecture shots..And I’m inspired to take some pictures outdoors today!
I’m not a fan of clowns…I find them creepy..lol
Beautiful city! Thanks for the pics.
Christi
I have enjoyed your City Walk. You are such a great photographer, love the angled shots and the details of the buildings. A great description of lace and face.
I’ve never heard of a city walk, but I think it’s an excellent idea! You captured some colorful and interesting shots. Thanks for sharing.
You have such a beautiful city! thanks for the tour!
I love all the details in the buildings. I love the first photo and the photo of the clown with orange hair.
I hope you have a great OW!
Beautiful! Love all the pics, there is so much beauty outdoors and we miss it if we stay indoors.Iloved espl the lace architec.ture
You took some wonderful shots. I have never been to Salt Lake City…we aren’t too far from you! Fun day.
What incredible photographs. I am in awe! Just beautiful. Amy
We have taken city walks in several different cities with our kids. Of course, the kids are usually complaining about the heat, the cold, the something, so we can stop. lol
Great photos!
Hey! This is where I live, too, but in the southeast end of the valley! I LOVE the SL County Building and what great angles you used in your photos! The colors are so vivid. Did you go by the Zions Bank on Main(?) that has the clock in the front? I adore that building. Thanks for a nice visit!
It’s nice sometimes to be a tourist in your own city! What great pics! Looks like you had fun despite the heat!
Thanks for these. We did some city walking during several visits to Salt Lake a few years ago. I’m still in geography shock. I’ve never gotton over it. Everywhere I look at a big or small scale takes my breath away. You can see so far. On Antelope Island you feel as remote as the moon.
Claudia, you are an amazing photographer! What some wonderful shots of SLC. I especially love the one of the city and county building ( I think . . . the one with the clock)
I am excited to see your clock post!
That is pretty intriguing. It provided me some ideas and I’ll be placing them on my website eventually. I’m bookmarking your site and I’ll be back. Thank you again!
