Front Room Photo RS

Welcome to Friday~~Finding Beauty

I finally completed a project I have been working on for a bit.

I posted a while back that I had decided to create ART from some of my photography.

I have always loved art work on my walls and decided when I made this last move to my new condo, I was going  to start putting my money where my mouth was– finding beauty in ourselves and our passions, and get my own work up on the walls.

So, I took a step off the cliff and enlarged a photo (see previous post). I think it’s something along the lines of 36″ by 30″

I had so many frames from my previous ”purchased” art that I thought I could just put it on of those frames. I tried and tried– I just couldn’t make it look right.

My work RS

So I headed to Hobby Lobby (see above)  chose the colors of matt and frame and had them put this together for me.

I have to admit I was nervous about investing a good spot of money on this — the negative monster that pops into my head too often kept asking me “what if you spend this money and you hate it?”

But I didn’t!

I have to honestly say I enjoy the way it turned out and how it looks over the sofa.

Frame up close RS

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to do this, but surrounding myself with MY work is inspiring and very uplifting to my spirit. I smile when I walk past these.

Try taking one of you photos that you enjoy (a place you love that brings wonderful memories or just an artful shot) and enlarge it– I challenge you– something bigger than 8×10 — I am betting on you that you will love it.

You will enhance your home AND your heart.

Claudia, I think it is wonderful!  I love this idea and the way it looks in your room, and I love the room, too.  Great job!  The quote is perfect…

    XO,

Claudia, this looks fantastic. It really is the perfect work for this room (and I LOVE this room). Where did you have it reproduced? I’ve been looking and looking for the perfect thing for a spot in our living room, I think I may take the plunge and print something that DH or I  have taken! Thanks for the inspiration, and thanks for hosting.

Claudia…the header on my blog is a photo my husband took out the window of our B&B bedroom in Conwy, Wales.

I totally agree about the joy you feel when you have your own artwork around you, whether it’s photographs, or paintings, or quilts, or sculpture…

I love your photograph! It’s perfect for the room.

    Hello Sweet Claudia…
Sweetie I love your photo all matted and framed. Girl it just looks so seren and peaceful. I would be so happy just sitting and looking at it too. It says peace to me. I love it. Thank you for sharing. I wanted to just come in and sit for a spell. So tonight I did. I love the sofa most of all. So comfy. The pillows are so pretty and make everything in the room happy. Love the little rabbit. He’s late according to the clock for a very important date. The face on the side table really captured my heart. She is beautiful. Truly beautiful.

I am so thrilled that you loved my post tonight. I wish my Moma had been here visiting I could have had 4 generations of hands. I was happy with 3 and the beautiful one in my heart. Grandma. I love writing, and some nights my heart just flows. Tonight it felt right and I just knew what I wanted to post. Thank you for allowing me to share on your host site.  I am truly having a good time.

Have a beautiful Friday. I will see you at Pink Saturday sweetie. Country hugs and so much love…Sherry

Girlfriend, you have the eye. Yes you do.
Your “art” is so very tasteful.
I was going to link up with you on “my beauty post”, but I changed my mind…I’m not in the same beauty category these last few days as you are.
There’s a white -out storm going on outside tonight. Just horrible weather conditions…come on spring : )
    Love ya
    Love Claudie

Hi Claudia – Wonderful job on the framing, matting and the picture looks beautiful.  I love the way your room turned out.  It’s so cozy looking – really inviting.  I love the artwork that I have  – the piece I did last summer hangs by our bed.  Maybe I’ll use that some Friday! You’ve inspired me.  The McLinky seemed to work fine…I just didn’t realize I needed to use the “title” field at first but it’s working a-ok!
Have a wonderful week.  xoxo Nancy

Yeah for you…I think that’s wonderful to surround yourself with your images.   We have 12 foot ceilings in the main living area and we mounted one large wall with thin wall shelves…my goal is to pick out photographs our oldest daughter has taken and blow them up for a dramatic display…people and nature… I have the frames. I just need to pick the images.  Well done…your room looks lovely.

i absolutely love your living room.  and i agree that you should display your own art work—it’s an affirmation of your talent.

    Hi Claudia!

Your photo is so perfectly framed and matted! It looks like it was always meant to be exactly where it is. Your home looks like anyone would feel welcomed to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea and some pleasant conversation.

    Beautiful Claudia!

your room looks gorgeous.  I’m so glad that your investment showed you to trust your heart.  It does look terrific.

I’ve been planning on enlarging a shot of my Jr. High son in mid pitch.  I’ll share it with you when I get it done.  He is amazingly gifted with baseball talent and I think he won’t believe it is him.  I’m re-doing his bedroom from dinosaurs to UT locker room.

The photograph is even more stunning in person!  You need to hold an art sale…my walls are bare!  Thx for the lunch date!  So great to catch up with my dear friend!  Kudos and Kisses!

I’m not taking part this week (visit my blog if you want to know why) but I just wanted to say I love your photo and think it’s a great idea to enlarge and use a picture you’ve taken yourself!  I started to do this after last year’s holiday and was thrilled with the results, though I didn’t enlarge that much, just to A4.  Good for you!

Claudia, the room is gorgeous and so inviting. I think the picture looks perfect and you can’t beat Hobby Lobby for frames. They have a great selection among other treasures too, Happy Pink Saturday, Char

That looks so pretty.  Great idea to re-use the frame. laurie

It looks gorgeous!  I’ve been wanting to do something similar for a while now.  It’s lack of confidence that makes me hesitant…I am truly my own worst critic!  My husband just recently swiped a few of my more ‘whimsical’ shots off of my computer…enlarged them and hung them up in our daughter’s playroom.  We love them, including our little one!  I’m hoping this will inspire me to do the same for our main living space :)

  23. CC on January 31st, 2010 1:21 pm

Your art looks beautiful..I know you love it. Happy belated Pink Saturday..have a lovely week.
