Hi Claudia

I have been poking around your blog to get to know you before we meet next year at Claudies.
I think when we are all there, we should re-created the friendship snowflake that you speak of in your favorites post about New York City Windows. I love all things art and creative also. Never can get enough and I feel most at home right in the middle of a big pile of creative people.

Can't wait to meet you. Idaho is not really that far from British Columbia....... Could definitely be a road trip one day too.

Thanks for the reminder of Christmas windows in NYC, where I lived years ago. Always enjoyed the windows, and as a child, the Christmas window displays in Chicago. Very nice photos!

As always you seem to choose the things I adore. I lived in Manhattan and worked there in the 70's. One of my favorite things to do was walk home from 53rd and Fifth to 72nd and First to where I lived. I loved looking at the shop windows, and I loved walking along Madison to see the shops. I go into NYC every Christmas to Rockefeller Center and to see the amazing tree there and the one in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
There is a wonderful book all about the history of the Christmas decorations in NYC store windows. I gave a copy to my mom for Christmas one year, and then she gave me one last year. Here is the name of it, I know that Barnes and Noble carry it. I wrote to the author, and thanked her for her incredible work. She also wrote a great coffee table book about the N.Y. Deli, another obsession, which I wear today on my hips.
Through The Shopping Glass, A century of New York Christmas Windows. by Sheryll Bellman
I so agree with you about how taking the time to memorize our thoughts and images is a wonderful way to stop and embrace the moment.
