Window NY RS

Do you have a Favorite Place? … or things?

If I am asked, “What is your favorite movie?” I have to admit it takes me a while to come up with that answer, depending on the day or my mood the answer might be very VERY different.

So, on that line of thinking,  I thought I would share  one of my favorite places to visit– New York City!

Ahhh yes the Big Apple.  I love the Broadway shows! I love the hustle and bustle of all the various people on the street. I even enjoy the non-stop honking of the miles and miles of yellow cabs.

Window displays are definitely one of my FAVORITES!

Please forgive the quality of these shots– taken with a “box” camera I think… But just some great examples of how much work goes into the displays. If I am remembering this trip correctly I think it was December at Sax 5th Ave.  The theme as you can see was Harmony and Friendship.

Her crown is stunning…

This display depicted children laying in snow- feet to feet- then reflecting off a hanging star… Friends bringing kinship to diverse worlds. (Kind of like the friendships that many of us feel through our blogging community.)

Be careful or you will break into singing “It’s a small world after all…” They definately had a Disney detail to them.

I don’t know that I would’ve ever thought of someone sitting on top of a group of Disco balls pondering over a book.

Sooo… here’s my question to you. What is one of your favorite things??  Perhaps no one even knows about or heard before– and put it in the comment section– This could get crazy… :)

I’m wondering if any of my friends knew I loved window displays this much? (well, I guess the cat is out of the bag :)

Stop by and visit Beverly on Pink Saturday there are such wonderful creative people over there.

Have a great weekend!  TTFN~~Claudia ♥ ♥

As always you seem to choose the things I adore.  I lived in Manhattan and worked there in the 70’s.  One of my favorite things to do was walk home from 53rd and Fifth to 72nd and First to where I lived.  I loved looking at the shop windows, and I loved walking along Madison to see the shops.  I go into NYC every Christmas to Rockefeller Center and to see the amazing tree there and the one in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
There is a wonderful book all about the history of the Christmas decorations in NYC store windows.  I gave a copy to my mom for Christmas one year, and then she gave me one last year.  Here is the name of it, I know that Barnes and Noble carry it.  I wrote to the author, and thanked her for her incredible work.   She also wrote a great coffee table book about the N.Y. Deli, another obsession, which I wear today on my hips.

I so agree with you about how taking the time to memorize our thoughts and images is a wonderful way to stop and embrace the moment.

Thanks for the reminder of Christmas windows in NYC, where I lived years ago. Always enjoyed the windows, and as a child, the Christmas window displays in Chicago.  Very nice photos!
