Dog Gone It

Red

Saturday mornings at the Farmer’s Market, if one arrives just as all the vendors are setting up their booths, can be very quite.

About 30 minutes after the die hard– “fresh produce only’s”– guys make their way  around all the booths– there seems to be a revival of voices, laughter and dogs on parade. This is the high-light of my day!

I adore dogs— sorry to Sammie the wonder cat (who wrote his own blog– check it out here) maybe it’s because I can’t have a pup right now but it seems to me that I am craving to be near them.

Frankie

Frankie had just spied a wayward hot dog recently out of the mitts of a baby — he would not make eye contact with me.

Oliver

Oliver, on the other hand, not only cocked his head to me but I swear he whispered to me to borrow him permanently. Isn’t his smile adorable?

Ranger

Ranger, I promise, stopped in his tracks for me to snap this handsome shot of him.

Bassett Buddy RS

But still Buddy the Basset is still one of my favorites!

When putting this post together I couldn’t help keep myself amused thinking of all the cute Dog songs out there. Here’s a couple:

Gonna Buy Me a Dogby The Monkees

Who Let the Dogs Outby Baha Men

How Much is that Doggie in the Window by Patti Page

Me and You and a Dog Named Booby Lobo

Hound Dog by Elvis

And Oh yes– a tribute to Utah–

OK, so this one’s not really about a dog, but it’s a cool song, nonetheless:  Puppy Love by Donny Osmond

Can you think of any other Dog songs I am missing? Join me and the other outdoors lovers with Susan at Southern Day Dreamer.

Here’s to my wonderful new friends!  TTFN~~Claudia

Good post, adorable faces, I hope you can get one of your own soon! Did you use picnik on any of these great shots?

Basset hounds are born camera hounds! I sweat our son’s dog Hannah stops and smiles! Don’t forget Cat Steven–“I Love My Dog”. You gotta get you a dog 🙂

Aww, love all the pup pics, too cute!

Oh Claudia! Definitely Buddy the Bassett was the best. His little face and eyes just talk to you. Maybe you should have a puppy, you are out walking all the time, why not have a critter to take along with? If you got one, what kind would you want? I’m curious as to if it would be a big dog or a little one? Mine is medium size and Handsome has been the best of all of my dog companions. I just have so connected with him. This is a wonderful post honey. I have so enjoyed this Farmer’s Market. Country Hugs, Sherry

I had so many reasons for not getting a dog, but it kept tugging at my heart. Now that we have our “Little Buddy” ..we couldn’t imagine life without him. These are beautiful photos.

I think David Bowie sings a song about a dog. I will have to check with Randy. Love doggy shots Claudia.
Nice OW post…no petals, just fur lol I think you know we rescued 2 more? We now have 6. I’m thinking of doing a “Seniors for Seniors” adoption for dogs. It’s in my thoughts.
    Love Claudie

Claudia, you’ll have to stop by my facebook and see our new puppy. She is an adorable Shar Pei named Suzie-Q. She looks sweet but,she is such a spitfire. Almost too much for us old folks. With all of my 9 kids we have a total of 9 dogs. Yellow labs, bassetts, boxer, and a blue heeler. Quite a bunch. I love your beautiful pictures. They all brighten my day.
    Love you, Arleen

Claudia, I adore dogs, so I really enjoyed your post.  The golden retriever stole my heart as they always do.  I’m mommy to the sweetest golden named Molly.

Oh darn!!…I forgot your tip about picnik!
Love all the dog photos!! Dogs have the most expressive faces!  The Yorkie sure is cute…but then they all are!

    Happy OW!!

  14. Look at all those sweet faces! I don’t know that I have ever seen dogs at the Farmer’s Market here – never really thought about it. Next time I go, I will check to see if they have “no animals” signs up.

I love the pooch pictures. And thank you for talking about Photoshop and Picnik. I have been using GIMP. I’d love to get Photoshop but given the price I am not sure if I am ready.

And thank you for the sweet comment on my picture of the hydrangeas! I don’t dry them. I have never dried a flower. I had taken floral design classes once and they talked about how hydrangeas shed those petals easily. What I thought was funnier was that some times the flowers are dried and then spray painted gold or silver. In fact the teaching florist was talking about people requesting live flowers to be spray painted!

    Dear Claudia,
Thank you for stopping by my blog.
I love your post about the dogs….I think Oliver was secretly wanting to go home with you……I think Ranger had sad eyes.
I love dogs and I have my dog sammy I cherish but I love cats….I always have….they are so inquistive ans my Andy pandy follows me all over the house and wants to be in the middle of everything I am doing.
Pets are just wonderful and so appreciative of everything you do for them.
I always enjoy your blog very much.
I was reading back the posts I missed and I am going to have to check out that program for photos you talked about.
I’ll let you know what I think

Claudie, I LOVE  your dog show.  Incidentally, we are waiting for a litter of poodles to be born and one of them will be ours.  We had to put down our Babette last Dec. and we are longing for another  baby to fill our home with puppy love.  Babette was almost 16 and had a wonderful life but it is never easy to say goodbye.  Your doggy photos are wonderful.  Love your post.
    Hugs…Jeanne

Frankie is my favorite – He looks like he wants to be soooo bad!  You can just see the little wheels spinning in his head:  “If I don’t look at that lady, she won’t be be able to tell what my plans are for that hot dog.”  Too funny!

  24. Di says:

Hello from Virginia….. I found a link to your blog at cozylittlehouse blog. Glad I stopped by as your dog photos really put a smile on my face.  We have two adopted rotties and adore dogs too!  Lovely photography by the way and I’ll stop by again soon.

You have a piece of my ♥ with this post. Dogs, and cats, are such a central part of my life!

  26. Julie says:

Ok Claudia, you got me. This is my first time posting a comment on a blog:) I have not ever commented, even on my daughters photo blog!!! But you pulled the dog card, and here I am. Those pics are so doggone darling. AND, I have to say that the first pic of the Golden Retriever with the “gentle lead” caught my attention because I just bought one for my American Eskimo “crazy on his walks” dog, and it works like a charm. I highly recommend this to all dog lovers with a crazy pants dog. Thanks friend 🙂
