What makes you Happy?
Recently, I have been reading a book by a Harvard professor Dan Gilbert– the book is called
Stumbling on Happiness.
He explains when asked what makes people happy they typically don’t answer correctly.
There are 3 traps that we fall into, unwittingly making yourself unhappy.
1– Postponing happiness. The when I (fill in the blank), I will be happy syndrome. Happiness isn’t something we can acquire in the future. You are either happy now or not; because “then” never gets here.
I loved his quote: “NOW is the only time you have to be happy. If you can’t be happy now, you most certainly wont be happy later.”
2– Spending our lives hoping to make others happy. We all know that other people can’t make us happy why do we think WE can make others happy?
3– The last happiness trap we fall into is contrast. Typically people judge their happiness by the illusion of what they think gives others happiness. We only know how to judge something by comparing it to something else or others.
.
.
Prof. Gilbert believes that bottom line happiness creates. It is not derived from the outside; it is only derived from within. It’s a state of mind that we choose.
I am firm believer that no matter our circumstance there is always something to be grateful for.
Having an attitude for Gratitude is my goal. Of course my camera assists me and often I am able to savor the moment and revisit.
This time of season when people ask me what my New Years Resolutions are– I simply reply that my goal is to live in the moment. Find the joy, the passion and contentment in my life this moment and enjoy my Happiness.
What makes you happy?
I would love for you to share…

Venturing out to find some leaf-less trees, I thought the perfect spot might be the Cemetery. (Obviously they ARE not leaf-less yet)
This particular one is cracking and falling apart… wonder if it will make another 100 years +.
And then I came across a very unique head stone… never mind the Lion that he could look clear through you… *shiver*

Then…Amidst other graves with headstones that read… “In Loving Memory…” or ” Beloved Mother” or “Honored Father…” was this very Unique headstone of
Lilly E Gray… June 1881 to 1958 a Victim of the Beast 666.
After doing a bit of reserch this is actually a legendary grave site. For years there have been rumors and speculation as to what this tumbstone ment. Obviously a reference to the New Testements Revelation Chapter 13th about the anti-christ. No one has done more reserch than Richelle Hawks (click here if you are interested in the entire story) who still is looking for anyone who would have any answers about dear Lilly…
Finding the truth will, perhaps, establish finally that Lily was not a victim of the Beast at all, but only of a notorious and cruel epitaph. If she was a victim in life, we’re sure she now rests in peace…

And is an angel among us…
Please stop by to say hi to our lovely hostess Susan at A Southern Daydreamer with OUT DOORS Wednesday.
