Tulip Festival 2016

IMG_4533Windless and 72 degrees. What could be more perfect?

I arrived at Thanksgiving Point at 9:01 to view the gardens. From past experiences I knew if I didn’t get there early I would be be dodging people, so I grabbed a golf cart and off I flew. The other indulgence was turning up my Iphone with a lovely background music — my very own soundtrack.

The gardens are groomed beyond beautiful and this year Mother Nature timed this showing perfectly. Seriously I don’t recall it ever looking prettier.

IMG_4646Color combinations were yummy.

IMG_4654I came around a bend to find this wee one totally engaged with this life size chess set.

My favorite quiet spot is the Secret Garden…

IMG_4573After my garden adventure, I parked my cart.

I am so fortunate because while i was photographing this breath taking garden, seldom did i have to wait for people to get out of my shot… yet when I left there were honestly 100s of people arriving to see the festival. What a Serendipitous day for me!!  “ohhh the happy accidents” that see me follow me!

Ah Spring 2016

IMG_4408On an early walk this morning, I found that the day could not be more perfect.  This gentleman goose honked his “good morning” bringing a smile to my heart.

It’s been too long since I have posted to my old friend “dipityroad”, and decided today was going to be the day I changed that.

New jobs and new abodes and some life changes left me thinking I didn’t have time to post. Yet in hind sight I found that while I try not to mention too many personal things here, none the less, when I reread my blog posts at least I kept my promise to myself to notice the every day and beauty around me. When I didn’t post I found that while I am certain I noticed the beautiful I didn’t mark time.

I sat next to a run off pond, and while there wasn’t too  many green grasses or leaves on these particular trees, the birds singing and the ever so soft breeze lead me to know it’s that time of rebirth again.

These beauties kept me spell bound.

Then I made my way down closer to the valley floor where warmer weathers has lead to blossoms everywhere.

This purposeful outing reminded me that the definition of serendipity is a “happy accident” — so as I went out purposefully the universe led me to spots where I found these glorious accidents.

Even this little guy who seemed to be the newest “got milk” advertisement model, paused a moment for his portrait.

IMG_4462Yep! Spring is here!! It’s sprung and I’m an appreciator of her!!

Especially up close and personal.

Smelling Lilacs

Filed Under spring | 13 comments

Believing that what we “put out there”  comes back to us— I am not complaining about the weather anymore. (ok– how about  NOT as much?  Certainly that has to be an improvement.)  Despite how much I complain, Mother Nature has still managed to bring the glorious spring flowers, and to her I am very thank full as I love LOVE lovvve the smell of Lilacs!!

This photo is fast becoming one of my favorites– with the exception of my signature it is SOOC  (straight out of the camera) I took this with an 85 mm  (not one I typically use) and I am liking the grainy look this came with.

The details of the Lilac up close is amazing isn’t it?  Baby flowers….yum!

These beauties all came from a dear friend of mine who has such a fun yard.

Do smelling Lilacs take you back in time?

I don’t recall having bushes around our home when we were small but I love them so much— I recall breaking off some branches and walking home with them from school.  Ummmm.  What is it about smells that can make us actual time travelers?

Check out this nice video — I am always sad at how fast “woody” flowers fade — this will give you some tips on how to keep them around a bit longer.

Hope you are enjoying the beauty around you.

On Friday I will be joining Beverly at Pink Saturday — check her out.
