Autumn Grasses

Park City barn

Besides the Zions Park Arch– this barn close to Park City, Utah is one of the more photographed places. Notice the grasses that surround the property.

Grass 1

As summer flowers are going to seed –listen quietly and you can almost hear the rustling of the grasses…

Grass 2

Fall brings a slower pace. Even the grasses dance, swaying to and fro. ( ha!  trying to recall the last time I used “fro” in a sentence!)

Amber cast

Here, at the edge of autumn. What is it? The smell of leaves and grasses drying?  A sudden shift in the air, a slightly amber cast to the light, then a blue haze hanging over the valley at evening.

Thanks to Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for the gathering of other outdoor appreciators. Stop by and say hello to some of them.

Gone is the fun and the fast pace of Summer… even nature slows, preparing us for the richness of Autumn colors yet to be unfurled.

Visit my dear friends at Hooked on Fridays and Beautiful Life Fridays… they are sure to inspire.

Silver Lake

silver lake quiet

By invitation I took a drive up our Big Cottonwood Canyon and walked Silver Lake. It was such a lovely day– hardly a breath of a breeze.

As you can see there is hardly any rippling of the water.

There’s a wonderful trail that walks you around so as to not bother Mother Natures’ Beauty by walking on her Wet Lands.

Cayden Profile

My dashingly handsome great nephew was taken by the “junk on the bottom of the lake” …. look at his to die for eyelashes. (whats with little boys getting those things when girls would kill for them?)

It was a lovely walk that I certainly intend on taking again!

Stop by sweet Southern Daydreamer and see how others are enjoying their Outdoor Wednesday. Also, remember to visit Melissa at The Inspired Room and Julia at Hooked on houses.

Dawn- always a new beginning

To Believe is to know that every day is a new beginning.

It is to trust that miracles happen, and dreams really do come true.

To Believe is to see angels dancing among the clouds; to know the wonder of stardust sky and the wisdom of the man in the moon.

To Believe is to find the strength and courage that lies within us.

To believe is to know that we are not alone; that life is a gift and this is our time to cherish it.

Today,I am hooked on my new photo editor, Picasa 3. Some times Photoshop is just too time consuming for me to even attempt. So, I broke out my Picasa and simply added sweet words. Stop by Hooked on houses and see what others are hooked on.

Feathered findings

deck-rs

Camera in hand, I took out for a brisk morning walk. The air was moist from the previous evening showers. Colors seemed to pop!

Down a brick path and around some Boston ferns I heard soft quacks coming from the bushes.

“Good morning Mama!”  I startled her…she was NOT happy that I was near her lil darlings. I whispered, “be careful, don’t spoil them or they grow up to be dirty lil rats!” :)

Then I saw him… I had heard him squawk, but could not find him. Then Mr. P  hopped down from a railing above me. (ok I said a wee bit of a swear word…sorry)  He was not interested in posing at all. He turned and walked away. He did have a nice hind end veiw though.

On my way back to my car I could hear him squawk  from a distance VERY loud… I turned and saw him in all his Glory… he had changed his mind on posing… (I guess guys can do that too, you know, change their minds!)

Now for your close up!
