A little Pink while Finding Beauty

Filed Under Pink | 39 comments

Welcome to Friday~~ Finding Beauty

This is a weekly get together where we celebrate the beauty we see around us and within ourselves.

This week– thanks BIG TIME – to Beverly from How Sweet the Sound– She has so graciously featured me for Pink Saturday

Welcome to all the PINK visitors — please link with us below as you all certainly hit the requirements of finding beauty and Pinks!

This week in downtown SLC they blocked off the streets so that local artists could show off their talent.  Luckily it didn’t rain and these fun presentations could last through the weekend.  Music selection: Peter Pan’s Flight.

The focus was intent.  The air was quiet and warm. You could almost hear the buzzing of creativity yet very few spoke.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson

Fairy Visit

Filed Under Fairys | 14 comments

A place to clear my mind — is always a visit to  garden shop that keeps a dry space for Fairys until they find their way HOME.

They have really appreciated keeping out of the strong elements this spring — but are looking forward to finding a home amidst luscious flowers and grasses.

The artistry is stunning.

Couldn’t you just imagine this lovely creature amidst yours?

And remember to stop by and sign up for My Give Away (click here) — just comment or/ and follow — each will bring you a chance.

Please visit Ms Mary at Little Red House — so you can see everyone else’s great mosaics.

The Music Selection is Fairys Dance – by James Newton Howard.

Enjoy your week — and always remember to stop and look at things a little bit different and you will see the beauty that was always there.

Where Bloggers Create – My Studio

Filed Under My studio, Where Bloggers Create | 70 comments

Welcome to Finding Beauty — This week I am joining in with Where Bloggers Create

Remember – join us – to celebrate the Beauty around you

This may be a bit on the lengthy side — but if you bear with me till the end there will be a GIVE AWAY!! :)

What is it about having our very own space that is so Beautiful and enchanting?

From simply a desk and computer to an entire room of your very own!

Being a small child I recall vividly an empty refrigerator card board box becoming heaven.  Alone quiet  and peaceful.

Trying to inspire their creative side, I often worked on the dining room table when my children were young … alone time seemed very illusive… after bedtime stories, the only alone time seemed to be a bubble bath. (It really was Calgon take me away!)

This last move for me, brought up a serious question– to create a guest bedroom or a studio??

You can guess from the topic which I chose?

Having the perfect studio was not my intention. I wanted a simple space where I was surrounded with things that I love and inspire me.

Looking at the bottles, you may see a couple of my photo’s  that I posted a couple of weeks ago.

For years I focused on striving to be the perfect child, sister, daughter, student, singer, artist, wife and mother. Don’t you hate that when you are older and wiser you realize how much time you wasted beating yourself up over not being perfect?  Who cares if you aren’t perfect?  It’s living now and enjoying now.  Heck– those hic ups and mess ups are some of the best memories!

I enjoy living amidst my own work. It inspires me that everyone has a story to tell.

I loved where the editor of  Where Woman Create said…“neither our dreams nor our lives are ordinary, why should our studios be?”

I enjoy surrounding myself with things I  love or by authors or artists that will  inspire my creativity.

Beatrix Potter has always been one of my favorites — love those Bunnies  :)

“the sun is on fire in the sky

and in it’s warmth

flowers open

in the garden

and

the butterfly

flutters

by”

Deciding to take a look from my not so typical vantage point has put me on another Serendipitous (DipityRoad) adventure. Our road of life is full of bumps and bends, twists and turns, and even some forks and washouts.

As I take a moment to still myself and look — really take a quiet moment to look– I will see the beauty that has always been there. Capturing that with my camera has allowed me the continuation of seeing it  again and again. This is the joy that Blogging has given me — to really put focus on my blessings and abundance.

This lil guy that sits right next to my monitor reminds me daily that  “Sometimes the Spirit touches us through our weaknesses.” He is by the artist  James Christensen.

Purples and Pinks

Filed Under flowers, Mosaic | 18 comments

Thank you to sweet Mary at Little Red House who so generously provides such a lovely meme for our creativity to bloom each week.

With Spring being so reluctant, my guess is that Summer will come in with blazes afire. So, with that hope I will continue to carry my boyfriend with me at all times. (cough… you know, my trusty Canon Rebel) Being creative isn’t something that just happens– it’s making a conscience effort to try (and fail) and try again.

At this weeks end I have planned on participating with so many others in Where Bloggers Create II. You will get a little peek into the space I spend my time being blissfully entertained and others call being creative.   So…I have done a bit of Spring cleaning  and hope to be ready not only for her celebration but our Friday~~Finding Beauty as well.  To me, obviously they are all intertwined.  Please please come join us!

I should have the Link up and ready  Thursday evening by 8:30 (mountain standard time)

Also, just for kicks and giggles there will be a fun GIVE away too! (shhh it’s a surprise)

Enjoy your week and find your beauty every where you go!

The Music selection is Flower Meadow — it makes you want to swat mosquitoes and probably run to the loo after you hear the water tinkling for a while. :)

Transformation with a Little Paint

Filed Under Fridays Finding Beauty | 26 comments

She would often say…  “this looks like the Psycho house!”  She, being my darling sister– we call her Beeb. She really really disliked the color of this house. In fact she thought last Halloween it was perfect for the scary one on the block. (this is where you would see me simply shaking my head back and forth… you are nutzzz Beeb… it’s a nice house.)

Beeb and Popz have often been a subject of my blog – thank you for the inspiration you crazy KIDS!!

So, she went on a quest! Beeb and Popz happen to live in a community where they have VERY strict CCnR’s (did I say STRICT???) as in you sometimes see the community police slinking through the neighbor hood checking to see if you have planted a flower you didn’t get permission to plant.  Ok, it’s not THAT bad… but almost.

Beeb drove around her community for a month I swear, and practically wore her lil eye balls out deciding on the color scheme for her house… then they had to go to the board to get approved…sigh… after a couple of tries… FINALLY they got the go ahead to change the paint color — and it started to rain– another delay.

Finally the transition began. These painters were awesome– they did such a great job.

This is a great shot to show the REAL contrast I thought.

At last!!  Complete — I love it to pieces.  The neighbors who often are out walking in the evening would stop by with their wonderful complements.  They loved to see the progress.

The transformation is dramatic!

Yum!!

It doesn’t hurt that Mother Nature’s incessant rain–then snow–then more rain –have helped the colors to pop.

… And of course there are the details (it’s all in the details)  that Beeb is so gifted with. She totally refurbished this clock inside and out and moved it from one place to another so cars passing by could see the clock a bit more easily.

These little critters are just adorable.

Bottom line the house looks GREAT… but it’s not just a house… This house is filled with love that oozes out!

They love one another and every day spending time doing for others is what they are all about.

It’s the love and beauty in this house that makes it a home. (above- Ms J and her Son C  –Beeb and Popz Daughter and Grandson.)

If you stop by Beverly’s How Sweet the Sound you will find such fun things.

Also, if you are in love with fantastic yards stop by and see Tootsie and the other fantastic gardeners!
